Ephesians 4:2 – Meekness

Daily Devotional Bible Verse

….with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, (Ephesians 4:2 RSV)

More often than not, meekness is mistaken for weakness. The meek person is not looked upon as having a good trait, but rather gets labeled as “mousy.” However, meekness is not weakness, but it is the inner strength of the one who knows who they are in Christ.

The meek one has learned to control their anger and not lash out when provoked. Meekness has the strength and power of the Spirit to turn the other cheek. The meek aren’t doubtful or fretful in the face of adversity because they trust in the Lord and are at peace in the storm.

The Meek speak truth and show mercy. Meekness doesn’t cower in fear, but is bold as a lion in the face of the enemy. The meek do not have to get their way; they are content in the Lord and know He has their best interests in mind.

THIS IS MEEKNESS! THIS IS STRENGTH! Do these characteristics describe you?

Father, let us be meek, find our self-assurance in You alone, and be confident in Your power and strength to provide for us completely, in Jesus’ name. CK
