Our Beliefs

Core Beliefs

At Short Daily Devotions we believe the Bible is a big deal- that’s why we write daily about the word of God. We realize that many of our readers come from a diversity of Christian denominational backgrounds and, because of that, we embrace this statement first penned by the German theologian Rupertus Meldenius: ” In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity. ”

So, you may wonder; what are the essential core beliefs of the Shorty Daily Devotions writing team?

About God the Father

We believe in one true God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being; the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness, power, knowledge and all other perfections. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. Acts 17:24-28, 1 Timothy 1:17

About Jesus

We believe Jesus is the perfect eternal Son of God who came to reveal God to people and provide reconciliation with God to humanity. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. He now dwells in all believers as the living Lord. John 1:1-18, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to people. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believer’s life by faith. John 16:8-11, 2 Corinthians 3:6

About Mankind

We believe all of humanity was created in God’s image to have a relationship with God the creator, but that humanity has broken this relationship due to sinful disobedience. We cannot reconcile this relationship on our own. Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 3:23

About Salvation

We believe that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection provide the sole solution for humanity’s separation from God. Salvation occurs only once we have accepted through faith what Jesus did to bridge this separation between us and God. Ephesians 2:1-10, 1 John 1:8-2:2

About the Christian Life

We believe that every Christian’s ultimate purpose is to live for the glory of God. This occurs as we grow in intimacy with God through prayer, His word, Christian relationships, and living obediently and responsively to Him. John 15:1-5, 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
