Luke 2:6-7 – A Sneaky Christmas

Daily Devotional Bible Verses

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. (Luke 2:6-7 NIV)

Did Christmas ever sneak up on you? Well, it did me! Here we are with Christmas coming soon, and I still have shopping to do! NEVER in my adult life have I been this late getting ready!

Now, it’s no longer sneaking…. Instead, it’s barreling toward me with the speed of a locomotive. I hear it coming! I feel it coming and there’s nothing I can do to slow it down! And I am screaming, “Not yet, I’m not ready!”

Revelations 21:4 – Misery is Optional

Daily Devotional Bible Verse

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelations 21:4 NIV)

The prognosis was that he had 2, maybe 3 years, to live. Charlie died in 2010, 34 years after his diagnosis!

My husband has spent the majority of his adult life as a coach. He has mentored many, many athletes through football, baseball, basketball, and track. He also spent most of his younger years as an active participant in each of these sports. I guess this gives you some insight into the fact that I am married to a “man’s man.”

Not only is he a gifted athlete and coach, but he is also large in stature. He’s a pretty hefty guy who could send shivers up and down the spine of an all-you-can-eat buffet manager.

We have been married almost 47 years, and I consider him to be my rock. I know he’s always there to catch me if I fall. Well, he is “my rock” after the first 15 minutes of a crisis.

Let me explain. For some reason known only to God,
