Revelation 21:3 – Christian Thanksgiving: Future Living

Daily Devotional Bible Verse

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. (Revelation 21:3 ESV)

As you study religion, you will see that there is a similarity between many of them. Many believe that God is a far off distance from man and has no desire to be here on the Earth with humans. He/She is interested in observing us from a distance and meddling in our affairs every once in a while. Now, this is obviously a generality. But, as Christians we can also view God this same way. We might believe he would rather be in Heaven the whole time then here with us. Some Christians also believe God has set things in motion and now just sits back and watches it happen until the end.

These beliefs are far from the truth according to the Bible. All we need to do is go back to beginning of the Bible and the world and we see that God walked WITH Adam and Eve in the garden (Genesis 3:8). He didn’t command Adam from a far of place in the beginning. He was with them. Now, as we read the end of the Bible in the book of Revelation, we see that God longs for this to happen again. “The dwelling place of God is with man,” not in Heaven. If we are honest, it can be hard worshipping a God who is currently not physically walking the Earth with us and teaching us. But, we can be thankful that in the end, just as at the beginning, he will dwell with us here on the Earth forever. How glorious those days will be!

Thank God for the future you will spend with Him.
