Ready and Waiting

But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”
Gen 3:9

In Matthew 11:28–30, Jesus says “my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” This verse doesn’t mean that living a Christian life is easy (2 Timothy 3:12), but pursuing a relationship with God is.

The entire Bible is a record of God’s pursuit of the human heart. Even still, most of us feel like we have to search for Him continuously as if He was hiding from us. When we allow this belief to persist, our faith journey becomes tiresome and frustrating.

The truth is, God is always present, and He’ll do all He can in an attempt to stir our souls so that we might long for Him. In John 6:44, Jesus reminds us that “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.”

God made us, and He knows how each one of us ticks. He uses this knowledge to draw us into a relationship with Him if our hearts allow it. And when we do, we realize that our limited view of God has kept us from Him all along.

He’s bigger than our problems—his love, greater than all the hate in the world. If we want to experience God, we must acknowledge His presence in every dark corner of our lives. God is all powerful, all knowing, and ever-present. He’s right there with us as we experience all of life’s ups and downs and no matter what happens—even when we don’t understand why it happens—God is sovereign and in control.

Is the Creator of the universe the Lord of your life? If not, then today, open the doorway of your heart because He is waiting to come in (Matt 7:8).
