Refresh to be Refreshed

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Proverbs 11:25

There have been some sad and difficult things happen in my family over the last few weeks.

When stress is high and life is overwhelming, it can be easy to just wish for a way out, a shortcut to feeling better, or gaining instant peace.

However, this may direct the way we start to live and pray in negative ways.

We can become insular, focused only on our own difficulties, pains, and problems. We turn inward. Our cries to God are simply for escape routes.

^^^ These aren’t by default “bad.” But often they aren’t the most beneficial.

Proverbs 11:25 as a Battle Cry

Proverbs 11:25

My personal challenge is to face difficulties and stresses with today’s verse, Proverbs 11:25, as my weapon and battle cry:

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

The surest path forward from sorrow to joy is refreshing and encouraging others.

Don’t first look to get fed, look to feed someone else.

Right now, who in your life can you encourage, serve, or add value to in some way — large or small?

If you’re struggling, serve your way to victory.

Push into this promise: refresh others and you will be refreshed. Click To Tweet
