Pay Attention to What God is Doing

“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”

Isaiah 43:19

This is part 2 of 5 in the series “Move the Needle” by author Megan Valentine.

Often God is doing a work within us, around us or through us and we completely miss it.

Change… new… those things are uncomfortable. Why not just stay right where we are? And just keep doing what we do?

We don’t hit the pause button often enough to stop and to consider, to evaluate and to dream, and to pray to see if maybe, just maybe, there might be something different, something new—or quite possibly something even greater out there for us.

We feel a stirring for more, but we ignore it. We sense something or someone trying to get our attention, but we breeze right past it. We don’t give ourselves permission to explore and dig deep.

We avoid the whisper, turn away from change and shut down the process long before it can ever begin. So the gentle whisper within grows quieter, and more time continues to pass by. Our one and only life continues to pass by.

Would you be okay if the next decade of your life looks just like the last decade? If not, what are you doing about it?

Today’s Challenge: Pause. Look around. Pay attention. Answer these questions.

  • In what ways can you identify God working in you and around you?
  • What is stirring within you?
  • Where are you restless and why?
  • What new thing might God be doing?
