Daily Devotional Bible Verse
Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright.
(Psalm 33:1 ESV)
Imagine being offered a unique opportunity at the end of your life.
You get the chance to hear what the people in your life have to say about the way you lived.
What would characterize your life?
Think for a moment. How do you hope others would describe you? What do you hope your life would be noted for?
Would your friends and neighbors say, “He always seemed to notice what was wrong with everything first, complained, and was overly critical.”
Or, “She never appeared to be satisfied with what she had, was ungrateful and always needed more.”
Hopefully it would be neither of those responses, but read today’s verse again and dwell on what it calls us to:
“Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright.”
Will your life have been lived in a matter that “befits the upright”?
Those of us counted as righteous in Christ should live a lifestyle of praising, honoring, and worshiping our God.
We ought to have God’s praise always on our lips, salting our speech.
In short, “praise befits the upright”, and our lives should be characterized by such living and speaking.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV)
