Let Your Light Shine

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:10 ESV

I absolutely love the music during our Sunday morning worship gatherings! There are songs that, in full transparency, touch me so deeply I get choked up to the point that words can barely escape.

One of my favorite parts of attending church as a child was singing Sunday school songs. I loved singing songs like “The Lord’s Army,” “I’ve Got the Joy… Joy… Joy…,” “Jesus Loves Me” (including hand motions), and many more.

This Little Light of Mine” was one of my all time favorites.

When we got to the part where the lyrics go, “Don’t let Satan, WOOSH (blow) it out, I’m gonna let it shine,” I moved my pointer finger (imaginary candle) and blew with so much force it could have rivaled a west Florida hurricane.

Unfortunately, over the years, my candle has flickered at times.

Why?

Fear of rejection, fear of insults, fear of being uncomfortable… Can you relate?

It has been said that God does not call the equipped, but equips the called. As believers, He has called us and equipped us!

Just like today’s verse states, “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

It’s time to lean in to our weakness and take hold of His strength. Click To Tweet It’s time to declare war on fear and claim the victory we have through Christ! Click To Tweet It’s time pursue growth through discomfort in order to flourish in our full God-given calling! Click To Tweet

We have been given the greatest gift of all time, the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. For the sake of Christ, let’s claim the victory we have in Him today and let our light shine so the whole world may know that He lives.

Is there someone the Lord’s laid on your heart and mind even now?

Maybe it’s a family member, a friend or a neighbor. It’s time for action! Step into the strength you have through Christ and take the next step to reach out to that lost soul today.

Affirm with me now: “I won’t let Satan woosh it out, I’m going to let it SHINE!”
