Life Stealer (John 10:10)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10 ESV)

Jesus came to bring us truth, freedom, light, and life. He lived perfectly, never giving in to temptation, always following God’s will. As His followers, we find this abundant life by walking as He walked. We’ve been rescued from darkness and brought into light (Colossians 1:13-14), which changes everything about us. Our hearts now long for things that honor God and make us more like Him. God gives us what we need to face life’s challenges, even when they demand courage and strength.

But let’s not forget—we have a powerful enemy. This enemy steals, lies, and prowls around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). He’s cunning and doesn’t always show himself openly. While God leads us toward our purpose, the enemy works against us. Look at your life today—are you living out what God has called you to do?

What’s your calling? Maybe it’s being a godly parent who leads your family spiritually, even when you’re exhausted. Maybe it’s studying God’s Word deeply, even when distractions call. Whatever it is, don’t let the enemy rob you through apathy, distraction, or fear. Jesus lived and died so we could have a relationship with God, and our enemy will use any trick to prevent that. His fingerprints aren’t always obvious, but they can be effective at keeping us from our God-given purpose.

Take a moment to think about who God made you to be. What’s holding you back from being that person? Resist the thief who steals life, and draw near to the One who gives it abundantly.
