1 Peter 5:8-9 Always Be Watchful

Daily Devotional Bible Verse

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (1 Peter 5:8-9 ESV)

It seems to me that when I feel closest to Christ and everything is going well is when I should be the most cautious. I should call in for reinforcements to cover my rear and keep my head on a swivel to assure I am looking out for an attack in every direction. Unfortunately, for most of us that’s not our typical course of action. We tend to let our guard down further because we embrace a false sense of security because of the feeling that we are close to God (see Romans 7:21 – So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.)

This sense of closeness to God can be genuine, but the belief that

Psalm 139:7-8 – God In The MRI

Daily Devotional Bible Verse

Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! (Psalm 139:7-8 ESV)

From Jordan:

I had always thought that I was fine with being cramped in enclosed spaces, until the summer of 2011 when I had my first MRI. That’s when I found out that I was wrong; in fact, not just wrong, but very, very wrong. If you’re unfamiliar with MRI’s, it is a medical imaging procedure in which the patient is inserted into a tube just large enough for his or her body to slide into. Initially, the cramped space and the noise didn’t bother me

Ezekiel 37:9-10 – God's C.P.R.

Daily Devotional Bible Verses

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. (Ezekiel 37:9-10 ESV)

Growing up as a kid I used to love watching Rescue 911. I was always amazed at the heralding stories of people being on the brink of death only to be saved by some unknown hero. The episodes that would really grab my attention were centered on someone having to give C.P.R. I would just sit there and be so captivated at the idea that you could bring someone back to life by simply breathing in ones mouth. This person some of the time would be someone who had not preformed C.P.R. on anyone for years and yet instinctively they would suddenly remembered how to give the lifesaving gift.
